ANDREW COOTWARE

NW VERMONT BOARD MEMBER

Andrew Cootware grew up in Colchester, Vermont, where he and his family still reside today. He attended Colchester High School, where he was a three-year starter at first base for the Lakers baseball team. During his career, he earned Metro League Second Team honors (2011), Metro League Honorable Mention (2010), and was selected to the North-South Senior All-Star Classic. He was also recognized as Defensive Player of the Year, received the Leigh Mallory Teammate of the Year Award, and was given the Coaches’ Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship, Spirit, and Attitude.

After high school, Andrew pursued collegiate baseball at Lesley University before returning to Vermont to attend the University of Vermont.

Andrew has coached athletes for over a decade. He currently serves as Head Coach of UVM Club Baseball (2025–present) after serving as Assistant Coach in 2024. He is also the JV Head Coach at Colchester High School (2024–present). Previously, he coached with the Vermont Jays, Green Mountain Warriors, and Champlain Valley Union High School. His focus has always been on developing disciplined athletes and strong leaders, both on and off the field.

Professionally, Andrew is an entrepreneur and business owner. He founded an investment fund in 2016, helped launch a screen-printing and embroidery company in 2020, and acquired a criminal research and investigation company in 2023. He worked in criminal investigation for four years while attending college and has owned and operated the company for the past three years.

Andrew came to faith in Jesus Christ shortly before the birth of his second son, and his wife Lauren came to faith shortly thereafter. This transformation reshaped his life and clarified his purpose in ministry and leadership. Growing up in Vermont, Andrew never encountered the Gospel. Today, he is committed to being the mentor and witness to young athletes that he never had.

Through his coaching roles at Colchester and UVM, Andrew became involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and quickly saw the impact of the ministry. He joined the FCA Vermont Board in 2025 and believes FCA provides a unique opportunity to unite sports and faith in a state where Gospel witness is greatly needed.

Andrew’s passion for athletes flows from his love for God and his own experience of finding identity beyond sports. Having once placed his identity in athletic performance, he understands the instability that follows when that foundation is removed. He now helps athletes find lasting security and purpose in Christ.

Andrew and his wife, Lauren, have been married for seven years and have been together for nineteen years, beginning their relationship at Colchester Middle School. They have three children: Bernard, Cooper, and Mattea. Their family is deeply connected to the athletic community, and Andrew and Lauren seek to model Christ-centered leadership at home.

Andrew is deeply committed to Vermont and its people. He has a heart to see repentance, revival, and spiritual renewal throughout the state. Through coaching, business, and ministry, he is devoted to helping athletes find and follow Jesus Christ and use their God-given gifts for His glory.
